About

Cariah Janell is a creative and detail-oriented fashion designer with a strong foundation in concept development, fabric sourcing, and garment construction. With refined skills in draping, pattern making, technical design, and tailoring allowing for the transformation of sketches into fully realized garments with precision.  She is eager to grow within the fashion industry and seeking a full-time position that offers hands-on experience and professional development opportunities.

Cariah Janell has always been devoted to the arts, determined to perfect her craft, and eager to learn more. Art has always been a creative outlet in her life, dictating her choice of career. Her middle school/high school career bloomed her spark for all things creative. Being a part of the costume design team from 2013 to 2019 expanded her artistic ability and understanding of garment construction. Learning how to sew came naturally to her while her passion for becoming a designer flourished.

She attended Victor Valley College, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts, and soon after transferred to Otis College of Art and Design to complete her Bachelor’s Degree. Within her time at Otis, Cariah Janell has worked under the guidance of Zaid Affas, Jonathan Cohen and Sarah Leiff of Jonathan Cohen Studio, and the creative team of Maggie Sottero, including Patrica DeLaunay, Edric Woo, and Kelley Midgley. Learning and working alongside these designers have helped her develop stronger design skills and have pushed her to work harder to elevate her work.
